Royal LePage president and CEO Phil Soper has been elected chair of the board of directors for The Realty Alliance, a network of North America’s largest full-service real estate brokerages.
Soper is the only Canadian on the board, according to a press release from the company. Royal LePage says his appointment will help ensure Canada’s real estate market is represented in discussions among major firms on the continent.
“The real estate industry is in a period of profound change,” Soper said in a statement. “Consumers are demanding better experiences, regulatory environments are shifting, and technology and data ownership have become strategic imperatives. The Realty Alliance brings together the firms most capable of shaping what comes next — and I’m honoured to help lead that conversation.”
The group includes many of the largest residential real estate firms in Canada and the United States and represents more than 100,000 agents. It focuses on brokerage leadership, industry standards, and innovation in technology, data management and agent experience.
Soper succeeds outgoing chair Michael Scarafile, CEO of Carolina One Real Estate. He will work with the alliance’s CEO, Craig Cheatham, on strengthening broker advocacy and collaboration across North America.
“Phil understands both the business realities of brokerage leadership and the responsibility we have to strengthen the communities we serve,” Cheatham said. “TRA will benefit from his strategic vision, his operational experience, and his strong belief in collaboration.”
